I recently had the pleasure of setting up my very own Raspberry Pi cluster, thanks to the UCTRONICS Pi Rack Pro for Raspberry Pi 4B. The build quality is impressive; it’s a solid piece of hardware that securely houses four RPis, complete with a fan interface and four SATA shields for additional storage capabilities. No more messy SATA-to-USB cables cluttering up my workspace!
Speaking of organization, the Pi Rack Pro’s 19” 1U Rack Mount design is a perfect fit for my cabinet or desktop setup. It not only adds a sleek aesthetic to both spaces but also keeps dust at bay. The compact size ensures that it takes up minimal space while still providing ample room for my Raspberry Pis.
One feature I appreciate the most is the safety shutdown mechanism. With four power buttons, I can easily achieve a soft shutdown, eliminating any risk of damage from hard shutdowns. This peace of mind is invaluable when working with delicate electronics like the Raspberry Pi.
Another standout feature is the 0.96” LCD display. It provides a graphical display of RAM/Disk usage, IP address, and temperature, making it easy to monitor system health at a glance. The customizable display content adds a personal touch to an otherwise utilitarian piece of hardware.
However, I found a minor quirk with the Raspberry Pi OS (Debian version 12 – Bookworm). A simple press of the power button won’t suffice for shutting down the system. Instead, you need to press it twice before the Pi powers off. It’s a small inconvenience but one that I believe can be easily addressed with a future firmware update.
